September 14-20 will mark National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) 2025, a period during which truckers nationwide will be recognized and celebrated for their essential contributions to the national economy and daily lives of all Americans.
What Is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week?
NTDAW is an annual week-long recognition of truckers for their vital work in keeping the economy moving forward. The American Truckers Associations (ATA) launched the program in 1988.
In May 2025, the week-long celebration was officially recognized by the U.S. Congress.
Each day of NTDAW will include a themed activity. Companies celebrating the event can tag ATA on social media using the hashtags #NTDAW25 and #ThankATrucker to further recognize drivers and become eligible to win special NTDAW prize packs.
Why National Truck Driver Appreciation Week Matters
There are 3.6 million truck drivers who work tirelessly to transport goods and resources to communities nationwide.
According to the ATA, these hardworking men and women deliver 11 billion tons of goods every year. Today, more than 80% of American communities rely solely on trucks to deliver their essential goods. Figures like these provide just a glimpse of the impact truckers make.
The past few years have not been easy for the trucking industry in what’s been called the Great Freight Recession. One main challenge the industry has dealt with has been a shortage of truck drivers, making their jobs even more indispensable.
Jennifer Lockett, Freight Factoring Operations Manager at altLINE, has worked closely with truck drivers for two decades.
“Every day, drivers put in long hours behind the wheel in order for civilians and businesses to get what they need in a timely manner,” Lockett said. “They make a positive impact on all of our lives by keeping our shelves stocked, which shouldn’t go without being recognized.”
